Accepted File Formats

Red Deer Polytechnic Digital Repository currently supports these file formats:

• Audio file formats: MP3, WAV
• Image file formats: JPG (JPEG), PNG, GIF, TIFF (TIF)
• Text file formats: PDF, doc & docx (converted to PDF for display)
  • NOTE: Powerpoint files (PPT) will need to be converted to PDF. All animated functions will become static.
• Video & digital multimedia file formats: MP4 (MPEG4, MPEG-4), MOV, AVI, M4V, MKV, OGG, QT
• 3D objects: GLB
• Remote media: YouTube and Vimeo only

An additional note about PDF

PDF is a good file format choice, but keep this in mind when submitting your work: 

• Do not embed media files in a PDF, as this can significantly increase the size of the file
• Do not encrypt or lock a PDF file, as this will make it impossible to perform optical character recognition (OCR) in order to create fully searchable text
