Frequently Asked Questions
How can I submit my work to the digital repository?
A submission process is in place here.
Can I submit a paper copy of my work?
No. Works must be in an electronic format.
Can I change a work I've already submitted?
No. Instead:
• Lists of errors and corrections (errata) may be added; or,
• An updated version may be deposited.
What happens to works as file formats change?
We will try to ensure continued readability and accessibility of files.
How long will works remain in the digital repository?
Items will be retained indefinitely.
Can I request removal of a work I submitted?
Yes, but this is strongly discouraged, since two of the main purposes of a digital repository are to provide long-term preservation and ensure access, now and in the future.
I'm hoping to publish my work in a journal or other format/venue. Should I deposit my work here before or after publication?
If you are hoping to publish your work elsewhere, we suggest you pursue that process first. Once your work is published, then deposit a copy of the published work in the digital repository, as long as your agreement with the publisher allows it.
What happens to submitted works if an author leaves Red Deer Polytechnic?
The works remain in the depository.
What if during my time at Red Deer Polytechnic I complete an advanced degree at another institution (masters or doctorate)? Can I deposit my thesis or dissertation into the Red Deer Polytechnic repository?
Your actual thesis or dissertation should be deposited into the repository of the institution where you completed your schooling. If you do subsequent presentations or articles related to that work while you are at Red Deer Polytechnic, we would be happy to add those works to the repository.
