The Effect of Physical Activity and Cellphone Use on Sustained Attention

In contemporary student life, sedentary activities like cellphone use often take precedence over physical activity, potentially influencing cognitive performance. Prior research into the relationship between physical activity and attention often overlooks the fact that students, constrained by limited time in their day for study breaks and tending to take much shorter breaks than the groups typically studied, require closer examination of the impact of these brief intervals on cognitive functioning. This study explores the relationship between physical activity, cellphone use, and sustained attention among undergraduate students, with a particular focus on differences between kinesiology and non-kinesiology majors.
